I appreciate the effort and I will continue to support the creativity of youth culture, however I regret to inform you that there is no such thing as SEA PUNK. I know about these things. I am a grown-up. I’m a professional.

I hope this clears up any confusion. You may continue to wear aqua, but Sea Punk is just not a thing.

P.S. I should add that “Steampunk” actually IS a thing, but it is very very stupid.

I had never heard of Sea Punk, but nothing convinces me that something is a thing more than someone with telling teenagers it isn’t. I remember my parents, hip 20-something’s during the 80’s, letting me know that Hip-Hop was not a thing.

Sea Punk, welcome to being a thing.

WORST IMPROVISER EVER

EXHIBIT A) CHOOSING ^ THAT HEADLINE. Nothing makes an improv scene shittier quicker than it being about the “best/worst_______ ever”. I hate it, and it happens in 40% of class scenes. You can even hear people hate it AS it comes out of them. “Best/worst” are too subjective. And “ever” is tricky, time-wise. It’s often salvaged, but my powerful urge to yell that at myself is itself, hackyned and lame.

EXHIBIT B) NOT REMEMBERING WHERE WE ARE IN THE FUCKING HAROLD. WHILST DOING IT. Seriously. WTF, early onset alzheimers? What the hell is wrong with my brain? It’s like goddamned Flowers for Algernon up in here lately. I know we were doing the Harold backwards in class, but that still should not have thrown me. I made a bold move, ruining the initiation, that clearly ignored two things teammates said during the second/first beats. I’m like napalm to brilliance.

EXHIBIT C) SHITTY GENERAL EVERYTHING. This may be slightly harsh, but sadly, only slightly. Accents? Offensive at best. Consistent, nearly never. Physical work? Sloppy lately…like a tiny lady running a big lady robot from inside the head with levers and pulleys. Time delays and choppiness. I lost a lot of weight and got in better shape mainly to do stronger physical work in both comedy & photography (I’m not motivated at all to skip cupcakes or run by potential future hotness, but comedy, sure) but I’m still not ….I’m not able to express myself using my body well without it looking stilted. Well, chalk one up for falsely blaming fatness. Turns out, Kat, you’re just slow-witted and dull!

EXHIBIT D) The Actual Problem.

Not enough improv. I’m doing too many things right now and you can’t be good at improv by half-assing it. Totally true of standup as well, and most people do one OR the other. And all of my devotional love of comedy, NYC and improv aside, all of my effort and money and sweat and tears, if I’m splitting my time four ways (photography, standup, improv, odd jobs, oh right, and being married & not living in a messy shithole) I run out of the time to steep. And if I don’t steep, I’ll be a weak cup of tea. Just a hint of flavour, what could have maybe been, if some time and care had been taken.

I’m not half-assing it on purpose, but regardless, I am not putting my whole ass in.

Put more of your ass in. MORE ASS.
